Back in the Garden - and Something New is Growing
Share
It's been a while since I've written here. Life has a way of pulling you away from the things you love most — and then, quietly, the garden pulls you back.
I stepped outside last week and realised that while I'd been busy with other things, everything had just… got on with it. That's the thing about herbs. They don't wait for you.
What's growing right now
The rosemary has come through winter looking better than ever — woody, silver-green, and absolutely full of scent when you brush past it. Thyme is spreading low across the bed, and the chamomile is just beginning to show its first feathery leaves. Lemon balm is doing what lemon balm always does: taking over with cheerful abandon.
And then there's the lavender. Not quite there yet — just the faintest suggestion of buds — but it's coming. It's always the one I wait for most.
A quieter kind of spring
This year feels different in the garden. I've been spending more time just being out here rather than rushing through tasks. Noticing the scent of things. The way rosemary smells different in the morning than it does at midday. The sweetness of lemon balm when the sun finally comes out and hits it.
That slowness has got me thinking — about the home, about fragrance, about the way a scent can completely change the feeling of a room. About what I want to create next.
Something is taking shape
I'm not quite ready to share the full picture yet, but I've been experimenting with something new. Something that starts right here in this garden, and ends up in your home.
More soon. In the meantime, I'd love to know — what's growing in your garden this April?
