How we make our soaps

Q1: What makes our Welsh handmade soap so special?

We make proper soap—by hand and in small batches right here in the Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog) in Mid Wales. This means we mix oils and lye to start a chemical reaction called saponification, turning them into soap and naturally forming glycerin. Glycerin draws moisture into the skin, unlike most commercial soaps that remove it, so our bars clean without drying or wrecking your skin.

We use hardworking plant oils like olive, coconut, Kokum, and shea butter for a strong clean, good lather, and lasting hydration. No palm oil, no synthetic chemicals, no fake scents or colours—just essential oils, clays, and other natural ingredients that do the job.

Every bar is cured for weeks to harden and last longer. It’s soap as it should be—simple, effective, and made with purpose, with a touch of Welsh authenticity in every bar.

Q2: Why is using Welsh springwater good for our soap?

We craft our soaps using pure Welsh springwater straight from the hills of the Brecon Beacons. Springwater is naturally soft and mineral-rich, helping create a luxurious lather that’s gentle on skin.

Using Welsh springwater supports our commitment to local, sustainable ingredients, giving each bar a fresh, authentic Welsh character. It’s part of what makes our soap hydrating, nourishing, and unique.

Q3: Why choose natural soap?

Tough on dirt, kind on skin: No harsh detergents or chemicals.

Built to hydrate: Glycerin locks in moisture where it’s needed.

No-nonsense ingredients: Everything has a purpose.

Eco-friendly: Breaks down clean, no harm done.

Better for rough, tired skin: Especially if you work hard or train hard.

Q4: Are your soaps suitable for sensitive skin?

Yes! Our soaps are made with gentle natural oils, butters, and botanicals, carefully blended to be soothing. We avoid synthetic additives, so even delicate skin can enjoy a soft, comforting cleanse.

Q5: How long do your soaps last?

Each handmade bar typically lasts 4ish with daily use, depending on storage and frequency. Keep them in a dry, ventilated soap dish to extend lifespan. Don't let soap sit in a puddle or it will turn to a goopey mess.

Q6: Do you use palm oil in your soaps?

No. We choose sustainable oils and butters, such as shea, Kokum, olive, and coconut, instead of palm oil. This reduces environmental impact while giving a rich, creamy lather.

Q7: Can I buy your Welsh handmade soap online?

Absolutely! Our full range of soaps and balms are available online, all crafted in small batches with care. Look out for seasonal blends and local Welsh ingredients that make each bar unique.
