Why we're called Usk Valley Herbs

People often assume we're based in the town of Usk.

It's an easy mistake to make. But in fact, we're nearly forty miles upstream, tucked near to the town of Brecon in the quiet upper reaches of the Usk Valley.

We're fortunate to farm in the upper Usk Valley, close to the river's headwaters. Long before the Usk reaches Crickhowell, Abergavenny or the town that shares its name, it begins life here among these hills.

This is the landscape we've always called home.

Rolling fields, ancient hedgerows, woodland, wildflowers and changing seasons all shape daily life here. The pace is quieter, the nights are darker, and every season leaves its mark on the valley in its own way.

It's also the landscape that shapes everything we grow.

Throughout the year, the herbs, flowers and botanicals on the farm change with the seasons. Spring brings fresh growth, summer fills the fields and gardens with fragrance, autumn is a time of harvest and drying, and winter offers a chance to prepare for the year ahead.

Many of the botanicals used in our home fragrance and skincare collections are grown, harvested and carefully dried here before becoming part of the products we make.

Living here, it's impossible not to feel that the landscape and the river are woven together. They influence the way we farm, the plants we grow and the rhythm of the seasons that inspires our work.

When it came to choosing a name for the business, nothing else ever felt quite right.

Usk Valley Herbs isn't simply where we're based. It's the place that inspires everything we do.

Every rose we dry, every bundle of lavender we harvest, every herb we grow and every blend we create begins here, shaped by the landscape around us.

So while many people think first of the market town of Usk, our story begins much further upstream, in a quiet corner of Wales where the valley begins and the seasons still set the pace.
